Review by Squid

Joe and Bob Pernice, aka the Pernice Brothers were two of the founding members of Scud Mountain Boys. They are also dearly beloved by our Queen of Sadcore. Our Daz, she just lurves that Joe Pernice. So much so that his two solo projects, Big Tobacco and the lengthily named Chappaquiddick Skyline figured highly in her Top 10 of 2000.

And so Daz floated above the Bottom of the Hill on, as Squid's Dad would say, "Cloud Ten", descending periodically to point out that they were concentrating new Pernice Brothers material. One of the few solo project references was 'Everyone Else is Evolving (I hate my life) from Chappaquiddick Skyline. Squid was pretty pleased at the inclusion of her fave Pernice song, 'Flaming Wreck'.

Scud Mountain Boys put out several albums, but Daz feels Joe finally found his voice - the whispy dreamy voice that he sings in now - on their last album Massachusetts. She was happy to hear them close with their only nod to Scud Mountain Boys, 'Grudge ****'. All told, Daz just sighed and summed up the whole evening as "incredible if not flawless". How can the Queen of Sadcore be so...happy? The Pernice Bros., that's how.
