Café Du Nord September 10, 2003 Review by Jake Thomas It was a nice mellow night at the du Nord. I got there early to shoot the shit with the Squid and the Daz, both of whom are big fans of the Modesto outfit American Holidays and talked me into coming out and Im glad they did. I liked them quite a bit, and hope to get one of their CDs soon. They reminded me of a lot of indie rock stuff from the mid-nineties such as the Archers of Loaf and Pavement, as well as a newer band called Haywood that has a couple of releases out on Self Starter Foundation. Both vocalists sounded great as did the rest of the band. Apparently this was their first show in quite a while, and the first in the Bay area in quite some time; hopefully this performance will mark an increase in show productivity out of American Holidays, as I think wed all be a little better for it. ©2003 playinginfog.com |
